Day 2 | Portobelo and the Emberá Querá Indigenous Community

Early in the morning, our representative will pick you up at the hotel to visit Portobelo, where we can appreciate much of the ancient fortification as well as part of the bay or entrance invaded on several occasions by pirates and privateers, including the famous Henry Morgan. We will visit the renowned Santiago de la Gloria Castle or Fort, one of the first forts ever built by the Spaniards for the protection and safeguarding of the gold and silver that crossed the Panamanian isthmus. Following this, we will tour the famous Customs building, whose main purpose was to serve as a collection center for the profits and trade resulting from the great fairs and exchanges that took place at this location, which could last up to 40 days, making it one of the most important cities in America at the time.

After this historical excursion, we continue with a visit to one of the indigenous communities located in the Chagres National Park. Upon arrival, we will board the famous "piraguas" or canoes, which are traditional Emberá boats carved from a single tree trunk. At the end of the journey, we will spot the village of "Emberá Querá," which means "Emberá Perfume," where our cordial hosts await us.

From this moment on, we will enjoy their music and dances, learn about their culture and traditions, and tour the village to visit their traditional residences. The "Chaman" or tribe healer will speak to us about the healing power of rainforest plants. At lunchtime, we will taste fresh fish (catch of the day), fried green plantains, and fruits. The Emberá are excellent, detailed, and dedicated artisans; if we wish to carry a memory on our skin, a natural "tattoo" is our option. The indigenous people will paint it with a black ink produced from "Jagua," the seed of a local palm tree.

It will be delivered to your hotel so you can start your own driving adventure in Panama. Your starting point will be the famous Bridge of the Americas; from there, drive along the Pan-American Highway along the Pacific Ocean. Once at your hotel, check-in and overnight stay.

Day 4 | The Best of Azuero

Considered by many as "Panama's cultural heart," the inhabitants of the Azuero Peninsula live their traditions and folklore with great pride, expressing them in their daily lives throughout the year. On this tour, you will observe in detail the making of the "pollera," one of the most beautiful traditional costumes in the world, by visiting artisans who have dedicated their entire lives to crafting this garment.

You will also visit the workshops of two local artisans dedicated to Panamanian folklore: one who crafts the "diablico" masks used for the dances of the "Diablicos Sucios" and the "Gran Diablo," and another who makes the wooden drums that are essential to traditional Panamanian music.

Visit and learn why the town of La Arena is so famous for its ceramics and see for yourself how challenging pottery can be. Finally, visit the workshop where traditional Panamanian sandals, the famous "cutarras," are made.

Day 5 | Welcome to the Highlands and Coffee Tasting
Day 5 | Welcome to the Highlands and Coffee Tasting

Breakfast and check-out. Today, you will set out on a route along the Pan-American Highway toward Boquete, where you can enjoy one of the most picturesque routes in the country. Beautiful landscapes, cattle farms, charming towns—a route that offers everything in sight.

Geisha Coffee Tasting: The coffee experience in Panama is incredible. Boquete has a beautiful history regarding coffee plantations. The Lamastus family's coffee tasting has a 100-year history and features the sale of the world's most expensive Geisha coffee at $600 per pound. The tasting focuses on flavor, the experience of 5 different coffee cups, and a professional cupping session.

Walk through the plantation and smell the aroma of the coffee flowers from the first lot at Elida Estate, "El Plano." At 1,700 meters above sea level, you will get a panoramic view of what Elida Estate has to offer. This is followed by a tour of the mill, where you will learn about the entire process of the coffee cherry, from the moment it arrives at the wet mill until it is packed and ready for export. You will end your visit with a cupping session in our coffee shop.

Once this great experience is over, you will arrive at your hotel for check-in and overnight stay.

Day 6 | Quetzal Trail in Cerro Punta
Day 6 | Quetzal Trail in Cerro Punta

Departure at 06:00 am from Boquete. The Los Quetzales trail connects the two communities of Boquete and Cerro Punta and is one of Panama's most popular and visited excursions. It is named after a particular bird species called the Resplendent Quetzal. Very elusive, these birds are a magnificent and rare gift to observe and a favorite among many birdwatching enthusiasts. In addition to the Quetzal, there are more than 220 other bird species native to the area. From Cerro Punta to Boquete, the 10 km trail descends steadily (approximately 800 meters) through tropical cloud forest and rainforest, taking about 4 to 6 hours to complete. The tour begins with a two-hour drive from Boquete to Cerro Punta, where your hiking adventure on the Quetzal Path starts. A standard air-conditioned bus will take you to the ranger station in the park.

The continental coast and the mountainous regions of Panama serve as an exquisite backdrop for photography. Next, we will venture to Coral Cay to practice snorkeling (2 locations / equipment not included) and have time for lunch at a "restaurant over the sea" that offers beautiful views of the Bocas del Toro archipelago islands (lunch not included). In the afternoon, you can enjoy Red Frog Beach, one of the main beaches in the region. Spend a few hours on this beachfront with waves, sand, and sun. Day 11 | Return to Panama City, City Tour, and the Great Canal Work

In the morning, you will be transferred back to the airstrip to take your flight back to the capital. Our driver will be waiting for you so you can continue with today's tour. This tour begins in Panama City, a place of contrasts. The tour includes a visit to the Modern City, Casco Antiguo (Old Quarter), Amador Causeway, and takes you to the Canal Visitors Center. You will enjoy panoramic drives and short walks at the visited sites.

On the way to the Miraflores Visitors Center at the Panama Canal, you will learn about the history and operational functioning of this wonder in motion. Once there, you can feel like part of the Canal's operation from the observation terraces. Continuing our tour, we will take a panoramic drive of the Amador Causeway islands, a land reclamation that connects four islands in the Panama Bay and makes you feel as if you are in the middle of the sea. The "all-in-one" view will allow you to see from a single point: the modern city, the Casco Antiguo, the Bridge of the Americas, Taboga Island, and the ships entering and leaving the Panama Canal.
