About the destination

Florianopolis is located in the south of Brazil and it's the capital of the state of Santa Catarina. Half of the city is on the mainland of Brazil while the other half is on the Santa Catarina Island. The island is well known for its beautiful beaches, there are over 50. Most people who visit Florianopolis head straight for its fabulous beaches. But Florianopolis' city centre is a great place to explore, to taste the tasty local food, to do some shopping or simply to relax. It has some nice sites that should not be missed. The Mercado Municipal is a fine example of late colonial architecture and is the perfect place to sample the town’s lively atmosphere. Praça XV de Novembro is the city’s heart and is where the Catedral Metropolitana, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, is located. In Praça XV de Novembro we find the Velha Figueira, a hundred-year old tree considered the symbol of the city. Another important landmark of the city is Hercílio Luz Bridge that links the island to the mainland. Florianopolis is the place to go to enjoy some of Brazil's most beautiful beaches. Moreover, visitors will enjoy beautiful scenery, interesting culture and friendly people. For all of these reasons, Florianopolis has become one of the main tourist destination in Brazil.
